What is the difference between FSCD and PDD

FSCD supports families raising a child with a disability up to age 18. PDD takes over when that child turns 18 and becomes an adult, providing funded support for adults with developmental disabilities. Both programs are funded by the Alberta Government and delivered through approved service providers like CareBridge.

Eligibility depends on the program. For FSCD your child must be under 18 with a diagnosed disability or developmental delay. For PDD your loved one must be 18 or older with a developmental disability. The best first step is to speak with your doctor or specialist who can provide a referral and guide you through the process.

Simply reach out to our team through the Contact page. We will have a conversation about your loved one's needs, the funding program you are accessing and how CareBridge can help. From there we work with you to build the right support plan.

Yes. CareBridge is an approved service provider for both FSCD and PDD programs; meaning families can access our services through either funding stream.

Support plans at CareBridge are living documents — they evolve as the individual grows and their needs change. We review plans regularly and adjust them in partnership with families to make sure support always reflects where the individual is and where they are headed.

At CareBridge we work hard to match individuals with the right support workers, people who are the right fit in terms of personality, approach and commitment. While we make the final match we always take family input seriously and work to ensure everyone feels comfortable and confident with the arrangement.
